What kind of sessions do we offer?

In Arizona, we offer telephone and video-based online therapy for individuals and families, as well as coaching.

In Texas, we only offer in person and online-based coaching at this time.

Do we accept insurance?

We are a fee-for-service practice and do not accept insurance. However, if your insurance company has out-of-network benefits, you may submit a copy of your bill (provided by us) for reimbursement. Based on your insurance plan’s policy, a portion will be paid directly to you. We can help you with the necessary paperwork to seek out-of-network reimbursement from your insurance company.

We do not accept insurance for a variety of reasons. This way, we are able to maintain client privacy and do not have to seek approval for ongoing sessions if needed. This means that you as the client are responsible for your progress and can work with the therapist directly to maximize value in sessions. It also eliminates the need for diagnostics, and there is never a question if our therapies are covered by your insurance, only to find out later they may not be.

What is our cancellation policy?

We have a 24-hour cancellation window, and any same-day cancellations may be subject to the full cost of the session.

What are the fees?

  • First Session Intake: 75 min $150
  • Additional Sessions: 50 min $125
  • Family Therapy Sessions: 75 min $150
  • Telephone consultations and email correspondence requiring more than 15 minutes are prorated at $125/hour

All fees are required at the time of service. Rubicon Therapy accepts all major credit cards, debit cards, (HSA) Health Savings Accounts, and (FSA) Flexible Spending Accounts.

I am in crisis, should I seek therapy right now?

If you are having active thoughts of hurting yourself or others, seeking immediate help through an Emergency Room or Behavioral Health Hospital in your area is most important. Then, after stabilization and support have been obtained, you can contact us to discuss follow-up care.

Are there certain areas that are beyond our scope of therapy?

Yes! We are always learning more information about various diagnoses and treatment modalities. However, we are not experts in everything! We are happy to speak to you about your current needs and refer, if appropriate, to capable providers in your area. It is our ethical imperative to practice within our scope and make sure you are seeing the right provider for you.

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?

Therapy requires a specific professional license to deliver and is obtained through extensive education and experiential therapeutic work. Therapists assess and create detailed treatment plans to often help clients work through difficult emotions, circumstances, and/or past traumas. Coaching, on the other hand, is more heavily focused on identifying values and goals of the individual. Coaching seeks to find balance in the life of the individual, considering the professional and personal selves. Rubicon coaching is focused on harmonizing the 8 dimensions of wellness (occupational, social, physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, environmental, and financial). An effective coach will work with you to find balance in these areas and create short- and long-term wellness goals. The ideal outcome is a peaceful relationship with yourself and others.

Do we provide nutrition or health coaching?

While we discuss health and lifestyle as part of the wellness model described above, we are NOT registered nutritionists or dietitians and will not give specific dietetic advice or recommendations. We hope you will seek professional support with other practitioners for these matters, and we are happy to help you find one in the spirit of interdisciplinary care.

What types of things will we discuss in a coaching session?

While the variety of things discussed is difficult to summarize, a typical coaching session will follow the 8 dimensions of wellness model foundation and begin to determine your needs and wants. Then, we can discuss a timeline and begin to develop short- and long-term goals that suit your schedule. We will discuss personal relationships, career aspirations, successes and areas for improvement. Depending on the need, there are many career assessments and inventories we can explore to provide more information. We may also discuss areas that lack fulfillment or seem complacent. Our goal is to help you feel confident in managing every aspect of your life with a focus on feeling balanced and content.
